Is hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde sensitization declining in central Europe?

چکیده
In several studies conducted during the last decade, the synthetic fragrance hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde (HICC; CAS 31906-04-4) has been shown to be a frequent sensitizer, with a prevalence of >2% among patients tested (1–6). Recent publications, however, have reported prevalences of sensitization of <2%, both in Denmark (7) and in Germany (8). However, in the most recent re-analysis (9) of the original data from the Gentofte Hospital in Denmark (7), the declining trend was not confirmed. The present article focuses on a time trend analysis of HICC contact sensitization based on Information Network of Departments of Dermatology (IVDK) data registered between 2002 and 2011.

Risk factors associated with sensitization to hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde.
BACKGROUND Hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde (HICC) is a synthetic fragrance chemical and an important contact allergen, at least in Europe. Despite this importance, little is known about risk factors associated with this allergen. OBJECTIVE To examine factors from the history and clinical presentation of patch tested patients associated with HICC sensitization. METHODS Contact a...
متن کاملRecommendation to include fragrance mix 2 and hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde (Lyral) in the European baseline patch test series.
BACKGROUND The currently used fragrance mix in the European baseline patch test series (baseline series) fails to detect a substantial number of clinically relevant fragrance allergies. OBJECTIVE To investigate whether it is justified to include hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde (Lyral) and fragrance mix 2 containing hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde, citral, farnesol, c...

BACKGROUND The fragrance mix (FM I), established in 1977, detects the majority, but not all cases of contact allergy to fragrances. Based on European research 2002/2003, fragrance mix II (FM II) was developed to supplement FM I. In 2005, the German Contact Dermatitis Research Group (DKG) added FM II to their baseline series. OBJECTIVES To evaluate reactions to FM II and its constituents in ro...
